3-year-old captures waiter’s heart by paying for family’s meal with pink toy credit card
One waiter from Indiana strives to give people the A-1 service they deserve, even if she’s a 3-year-old pint-sized customer.
Wendell Davenport, 22, of Merrillville, Indiana, works as a waiter at Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
“I always was told by my parents if I work a job, why not be the best at it?” he wrote for Love What Matters.
So, he tries to give the best service every time he serves.
On one of his shifts in early April, an absolutely adorable 3-year-old girl visited Carrabba’s restaurant with her family.
When Davenport waited on the little girl’s table, he noticed how confident and talkative she was.
Though the girl was just 3, she attempted to order for the whole family.
When it was time to settle the bill, the little girl took it a step further. She handed Davenport a pink toy credit card.
At first, Davenport just laughed it off.
“She tried giving me the card twice and I just laughed and smiled at her and said ‘I got you,’” he told BuzzFeed News.
So, Davenport thought why not play along?
Listening to his co-worker’s advice, Davenport drew up a fake receipt for the girl and put it in a check holder.
Later, when he got back to the table, the family had left. Inside the check holder was the fake receipt signed by his pint-sized customer and a $3 tip.
“The parents left before I had a chance to thank them. When I showed my co-workers, we basically all said, ‘Awwwwwwwww,’” Davenport wrote.
Davenport took to Twitter to share this cute story, and it spread far and wide, garnering over 257,000 likes.
“Best waiter ever!” one Twitter user wrote.
Another wrote, “You’re the best.”
Davenport truly deserved the $3 tip for taking his time to entertain the adorable little girl.
